Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior political figure said the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
